Our Advisory Board
The Audit Transformation Advisory Board helps to shape the vision of a “modern” audit practice. In addition to creating a broad vision for the “future of audit”, this advisory board will ensure that the innovative technologies and audit techniques that the Center recommends is balanced by adhering to audit standards and protecting the public’s trust in the profession. The advisory board also helps to ensure that the Center’s efforts complement and elevate the work being done by other industry associations, advisors, and consultants.
The guidance provided by this advisory board helps to:

- Inform audit practices on strategic initiatives to consider for modernizing their practices.
- Identify key considerations for audit department business strategy development.
- Identify new vendors or innovations that help to optimize or transform audit engagements.
- Identify audit methodology or audit standards considerations associated with adoption of new audit tools or audit management technologies.
- Identify key considerations when adapting audit techniques into the digital world.
- Identify ethical and independence considerations with the adoption of audit innovations.
- Identify audit quality considerations with the adoption of audit innovations.
- Identify competencies needed to utilize modern audit practices.
- Identify leading audit team management practices.
Included in the advisory board’s mission is also the identification of content, courses, consultants, and communities that help to drive the discussion of the topics and identification of leading practices associated with the above topics.
Advisory Board members include learning providers, influencers, consultants, professors, practitioners, and association leaders. The breadth of accomplishments and diverse perspectives of this Advisory Board offers a variety of experiences and opinions from different sectors in order to better serve the profession and help firms be successful in their audit transformation.
Scott Bailey, CPA, CGMA, CISA, CITP, CFE
Partner, Carr, Riggs & Ingram
With experience in both public accounting and internal audit, Scott has served small and middle–market businesses in the insurance, construction, and manufacturing industries. In addition to serving as CRI’s North Carolina audit practice leader and industry line leader of Captives and Alternative Risk, he also leads CRI’s cannabis practice. The interconnectedness of his industry experience helps him provide unique solutions to his clients.
Scott also spends time volunteering with a number of organizations, including serving on the Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee for the AICPA, on the conference planning committee for the NCCIA, a founding member of the Advocacy and Government Relations Committee for the NC Association of CPAs, and as an upcoming board of directors member for the IASA Carolina’s Chapter.

Danielle Cheek, CPA, CFE, CVA
Vice President, Head of Analytics & AI, Caseware
Danielle Supkis Cheek is the Vice President, Head of Analytics & AI at Caseware. She previously served as the Vice President of Strategy and Industry Relations at MindBridge and has also spent 15 years in public accounting. Danielle earned her Bachelors from Rice University in Houston, TX, and her Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. She is a Certified Public Account (CPA) in the State of Texas, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). She is the immediate past Chair of the PCPS Technical Issues Committee with the American Institute for CPAs and is the US Representative to the IFAC Small and Medium Practitioners Committee.
She is an 8-time (2014-2021) 40 under 40 by the CPA Practice Advisor, and was the Houston CPA’s Society’s Distinguished Member to the Profession for 2019. Danielle was also the first woman to receive the AICPA’s Outstanding Young CPA of the Year Award in Honor of Maximo in 2016 and is a 4-time Most Powerful Women in Accounting by CPA Practice Advisor and AICPA. Danielle was also named as a 2019 Houston Business Journal Women Who Means Business. Starting in 2015, she is also part-time faculty at Rice University’s Jones School of Business teaching accounting for entrepreneurs to undergrads and data analytics to the Masters of Accountancy (MAcc) students.
Melisa Galasso, CPA, CPTD

Melisa Galasso is the founder and CEO of Galasso Learning Solutions LLC. A CPA with nearly 20 years of experience in the accounting profession, Melisa designs and facilitates courses in advanced technical accounting and auditing topics, including not-for-profit and governmental accounting. She also supports essential professional development, audit level training, and train the trainer efforts.
Melisa is a Certified Speaking Professional, a Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), and has earned the Association for Talent Development Master Trainer™ designation. Her passion for instructional design and adult learning techniques is one of the differentiators that set her apart from other CPE providers. Within the industry, Melisa serves on the FASB’s Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee (NAC), AICPA Council, and the VSCPA’s Board of Directors. She previously served on the AICPA’s Technical Issues Committee (TIC) and is a past-Chair of the NCACPA’s A&A committee. Melisa also authors the AICPA’s State and Local Government Guide and serves as a SME for the Center for Plain English Accounting.
Mark Mayberry, CPA, CITP, CISA, CIDA
Founder, Mark Mayberry, CPA
Mark D. Mayberry, CPA, CITP, CISA, CIDA is a recognized thought leader and educator in the fields of assurance, audit technology, audit innovation, and IT-related risk management. Mark serves as an audit transformation advisor for local & regional firms, and internal audit departments. He helps with development of innovation roadmaps, risk assessments, internal controls evaluation, development of IT-related advisory services, streamlining of audit department operations, and increasing staff proficiency with IT tools supporting assurance services delivery.
Mark has been highly involved in several AICPA initiatives including development of the AICPA’s Audit Data Standard, revamping of the Certified IT Professional (CITP) credential and exam, and the authoring of guidance published by the AICPA on IT Considerations for Risk-Based Auditing. Additionally, Mark is a subject matter expert, speaker, and educator on innovation strategies, business intelligence, data analytics, assurance technologies, IT risk assessment and other emerging technologies around the US and internationally.
Michael Ramos

Mike is the Managing Partner of MRA Learning, a full service learning and development consulting firm, t. providing curriculum planning, course design, custom course development and learning operations support. MRA Learning specializes in the development of skills and organizational competencies that enable organizations to solve problems and achieve business goals.
Mike has been an active contributor to the advancement of the accounting profession, leveraging his initial career as a Senior Audit Manager with KPMG into a variety of roles creating authoritative auditing guidance and later, delivering technical training. Mike’s training expertise lies in the integration of technical training with the development of critical skills such as analytical thinking, problem solving, project management and communication.
MRA Learning is know for its collaborative approach to working with clients, its innovative training solutions and its srategic, business-focused approach to continuing education. The firm’s learning programs have been nominated four times for Brandon Hall Awards, winning twice.
Kevin Wang, CPA, CITP, CGFM
Director of Innovation, Warren Averette
Kevin Wang, CPA, CITP, CGFM, is currently the Director of Innovation for Warren Averett. Kevin graduated from Auburn University in 2009 with a BS in Accountancy and in 2010 with a Master of Accountancy degree. He started his professional career as an auditor in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, for O’Sullivan Creel who merged with Warren Averett.
In 2016, after getting promoted to Senior Audit Manager, Kevin transitioned to Warren Averett’s headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. Along with the physical transition, Kevin shifted roles within the firm to become the firm’s first Director of Innovation.
