The Center for Accounting Transformation is proud to announce that its founder and “inspiration architect,” Donny Shimamoto, CPA.CITP, CGMA, has been named to Accounting Today’s 2025 Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting, published in the magazine’s December issue.
The Accounting Today Top 100 honors individuals whose influence extends beyond organizational boundaries—leaders advancing the profession’s relevance, resilience, and public value during a period of profound change.
Shimamoto appears alongside notable changemakers such as Ron Baker, Jim Boomer, Geoffrey Brown, Jin W. Chang, Danielle Supkis Cheek, Ellen Choi, Randy Crabtree, Jennifer Cryder, Angie Grissom, Yvonne Hinson, Randy Johnston, Mark Koziel, Roman Kepczyk, Ed Kless, Bob Lewis, Doug Lewis, Dr. Jackie Meyer, Jody Padar, Michelle River, Bonnie Buol Ruszczyk, Katie Tolin, Rick Telberg, Sandra Wiley, and Jennifer Wilson.
“Being included in this year’s Top 100 is an incredible honor, but it’s also a reminder of the responsibility we all share: to guide the profession through one of the most transformative periods in its history,” Shimamoto shares. “I’m grateful to be part of a community that is committed to #transformaccounting by learning, adapting, and improving the world through accounting.”
In naming Shimamoto to the 2025 list, Accounting Today cited his ability to address the full range of challenges accountants face today, noting that while many professionals initially encounter his work through accounting technology, his influence spans far beyond any single discipline.
“Many in the profession first get to know Shimamoto from his work as an accounting technologist” Accounting Today published. “Only to realize that his expertise—and the advice and guidance he can offer—go far beyond that, covering all of the most important issues that accountants are facing.” That breadth includes governance, risk, strategy, talent development, ethics, sustainability, and the evolving role accountants play in supporting small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and mission-driven small and mid-sized enterprises.
He further encourages inspiring future accounting professionals through the Center for Accounting Transformation’s Agents of Transformation campaign, where storytelling takes a new art form and students and second-career professionals can witness the significant contributions accounting professionals make in the world.
A Career Built on Guiding the Profession Forward
Shimamoto is the founder and managing director of IntrapriseTechKnowlogies LLC and the founder of the Center for Accounting Transformation, where his work centers on helping organizations—especially small businesses and nonprofits—make better decisions, manage risk responsibly, and strengthen long-term sustainability.

His approach emphasizes clarity, trust, and alignment—values critical to organizations that serve communities, donors, employees, and public interest.
Through education, research, and national collaboration, Shimamoto has helped thousands of professionals:
- Reframe the accountant’s role as a strategic advisor and steward;
