Student Voices on ESG: A Special Earth Day Episode | Accounting ARC

BPM’s ESG Advisory senior manager tells students how artists, scientists, and storytellers can thrive in ESG—and why accounting is the secret weapon.
In a special Earth Day episode of Accounting ARC, high school student Arpan Grewal hosts a powerful conversation with Tiffany Huey, the senior manager of BPM’s ESG Advisory practice. With a background in education and nonprofit work—not accounting—Huey’s unconventional journey into ESG proves that meaningful change doesn’t require a CPA license, just curiosity and courage.
From Community Work to Corporate Transformation
Huey’s passion for social impact led her to pursue an MBA in sustainability. “I wanted to learn how to speak the language of business,” she shares, reflecting on her pivot from youth programs to ESG strategy. Today, she leads BPM’s ESG advisory practice, guiding companies through materiality assessments, stakeholder engagement, and carbon accounting.
Her work is grounded in helping companies understand their full impact. “What companies measure and report tells the story of what they value,” she explains.
A Field for Every Student
Huey emphasizes that ESG work isn’t only for accountants or climate scientists—it’s a multidisciplinary space open to artists, coders, marketers, and strategists alike. “There’s room for every skillset,” she says. “Whether you’re good at managing relationships, data, or creative campaigns, ESG needs all of us.”
Small Steps, Big Impact
Huey’s advice for students? “Start where you are.” She shares how her own high school class helped switch their school to hand dryers, saving thousands and reducing waste. Her message: Student voices matter—and can create change.
Advice for the Next Generation
As the podcast wraps, Huey offers timeless encouragement: “You don’t have to choose between making a living and making a difference.”
